Area description This magnificent Hacienda is one of the most important and best-preserved olive-oil haciendas in Andalusia. Its origins date back to the mid-16th century; legend says King Fernando III discovered here the image of the Virgin that would later become “Virgen de los Reyes”, patron saint of Seville. Documented history confirms ownership by Inés de Ávila (who donated it in 1638 to the Jesuit Colegio de San Hermenegildo) and later, after the expulsion of the Jesuits in 1767, its purchase in 1770 by the XII Duke of Alba for over one million maravedís. At that time the estate extended to 400 hectares and boasted four large oil mills – the four original “naves-molino” are still perfectly preserved, with authentic artifacts like buried tinajas for oil storage and the millstone for olive crushing. Once seigneurial rights were abolished, the Ducal House of Alba sold the hacienda, which passed to local bourgeoisie (e.g., 1853 Diego Fernández Montañez, 1863 Tomás de la Calzada, 1905 Rafael Méndez Palacios), gradually reducing its size. Completely restored to the highest standards over the last 15–20 years using traditional materials like tapial walls (limewashed), par y nudillo roof structures with Moorish tiles, rustic stone columns, and brick arches, the hacienda today functions as an exclusive event venue (weddings, corporate events, fairs) with five indoor halls and six breathtaking patios/gardines, all for the exclusive use of one client per day. The 1 main dwelling + 12 existing luxury suites (very spacious, all with bathroom and private lounge) plus potential expansions make the conversion into a luxury rural boutique hotel straight forward and economically very attractive. Historical references include a tile panel with the XII Duke of Alba's arms and a Jesuit anagram tile dated 1759.
